There is NO set month to sign up. New cadets are welcome to join during any of our monthly drill weekends.  We do encourage you to come and visit our unit. You may come out either Saturday or Sunday morning of a scheduled drill. Dates are located under the “drill info” link above.  Please understand parents/guardians must remain at the unit with their prospective cadet during the visit. All prospective cadets and parents will have a meet and greet with the Commanding Officer to go over expectations and to answer any questions.

Eligibility Criteria

Personal and Character Qualifiers:

  • For Naval Sea Cadets (NSCC) you are a mature young man or woman, at least 14 years old, but not yet have reached your 18th birthday.
  • For Naval League Cadets (NLCC) you are a young man or women, between the ages of 10-13
  • You are a United States Citizen.
  • You have no criminal record.
  • You reject and renounce the use of drugs and alcohol, and agree to avoid illegal behavior while a member of NSCC/NLCC.
  • You must be unmarried and agree to remain unmarried while a member.
  • You must attend 75% of drills and meetings.
  • You must agree to maintain neat, clean military image (inc. grooming standards).
  • A medical examination similar to a high school sports physical is required for all cadet applicants to the Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC) or Navy League Cadet Corps (NLCC). No one will be denied admission to the NSCC/NLCC due to a medical disability. Where a medical condition precludes full, unlimited participation, a Request for Accommodation (NSCADM 015) may be presented by the parent or guardian for review so the cadet may participate in NSCC activities to the maximum extent possible.
  • Adult applicants must be in good health commensurate with their age group and be free from any ailment or condition that would prevent them from satisfactorily performing their primary duty of supervising youth. NOTE: Adults not physically qualified to perform all duties may still participate with a waiver from NHQ considering the parameters of their expected contribution to the NSCC program.

Program Cost

Currently, the first-year enrollment fee for a new NLCC/NSCC Cadet is $95. This includes a one time uniform set up fee of $35. Thereafter, the yearly renewal fee is $60.  The unit does supply cadets with uniforms and will be replaced accordingly.  Parents are responsible for any alterations as well as attaching any insignia required for the uniform.
Additionally there is a $50 deposit required for each set of the Navy Working Uniform (NWU) which is refunded upon return of the uniform.

If you chose to pay any of the fee using the PayPal link, the cost will be slightly higher to cover additional processing fees

When you are ready to apply, fill out the following downloadable  forms and bring them to our next drill.  If you’ve been referred by a current cadet, please give us his/her name so we can let them know.

If you have any additional questions please email our recruiting officer at recruiting@cmcorsairs.com

The NSCC/NLCC requires the following three forms from each applicant:
